Panoramic Pods Allendale Glamping Review

Luxury glamping with hot tubs? Yes please!

I used to work in UK tourism and once spent a night tent camping in Antarctica, but I`m a pretty inexperienced glamper. Nonetheless, my partner and I were excited for our 2-night stay with Panoramic Pods in Northumberland. In the review, we’re going to be sharing our thoughts and top tips on this memorable get-away.

Before we even arrived we were impressed that the lovely owners were willing to be flexible with arrival times. One of the great benefits of booking direct with Panoramic Pods Glamping is that it´s easy to sort these kind of things out with the locals and we arrived after dark due to the long drive from the South Coast.

We were immediately impressed by how spotlessly clean and spacious the pods were. Inside there were a lot of touches that made it feel homely, like a log burner, soft cushions and pretty wall paper. There was plenty of room to move around inside and the pod had a bed for two inside its own nook for privacy and also a good size sofa which could convert into a bed to sleep more. It had en-suite facilities with a private hot tub. Our view was over some misty fields where there were horses grazing, and over our walk to the pod some ducks quacked along with us.

What´s inside these luxury glamping pods with hot tubs?

The pod is like a mini apartment, with its own kitchen area including you will find a fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster and induction hob. You really don´t need to pack much like you would for traditional camping as they supply cutlery, plates, glassware and even washing up liquid. You´ll be toasty in all seasons thanks to both a radiator and wood fired burner. In the en-suite there´s a flushing loo and shower.

Unfortunately Northumberland greeted us with a good dose of rain and mist, but the pod has a lovely deck with table and chairs, looking out over pleasant views. We did have a lovely dip in the hot tub, which stayed at a fantastic temperature even though we came back from our excursion late. Nothing could be more relaxing!

There are just four pods on the site and they´re nicely spaced out, so you don´t feel crowded in by your neighbours. The pods sleep two adults and up to three kids.

Things to do in Northumberland

We got to know how beautifully rural this part of the world is when we arrived late in the evening and found ourselves crawling up the approaching roads so as not to scare all the bunnies that were hanging out by the roadside!

Allendale is close by and a good place to go for a pub stop or to get bits and bobs from the local supermarket. It´s worth planning ahead a bit where you´ll eat or buying something to cook in your cosy pod.

We spent the weekend at Beamish Open Air Museum, which is wonderful and both accessible and family friendly. On the second day we had a long soak in the hot tub and took in the scenery.

Also totally reachable would be a stretch of Hadrian´s Wall or some stargazing at Kielder Observatory.

Final thoughts on Panoramic Pods Glamping

Overall, the pod was a big hit with us and although splashing out for a hot tub does make things a little more expensive, it´s so worth it for a special getaway. I´d highly recommend Panoramic Pods to anyone in the area and the owners were very kind and helpful.

Good to know:

  • There´s no Wi-Fi in the pods and depending on your network you may not be able to get mobile signal
  • Dogs (kept under control) are welcome in two of the pods
  • There is a car park a short walk from the pods with wheelbarrows to make it easy to ferry your stuff over

Happy podding!
